Jim Abrahams, one third of the comedy team that produced Airplane! and The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, directed this considerably inferior spoof of The Godfather, Casino, and other mob films.

I laughed during Jane Austen's Mafia!, particularly during the first five or ten minutes -- but not enough. For every genuinely funny gag, there's five others that fall flat. Some of them are clumsy or predictable; others are just gratuitously gross. There hasn't been a good crazy comedy like this in quite some time. When even the originators of the subgenre are churning out duds, it makes me wonder if this isn't the time to put it to rest.
