Wider Than the Sky

By Samuel Stoddard

About the Book

Wider Than the Sky is a humorous alternate history story that imagines what it would be like if all the world's greatest poets -- Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Percy Shelley, and many others -- punched a clock at a greeting card factory to churn out the great poems they're famous for, only to have them printed up inside disposable well wishes.

The main character, Anne, doesn't fit in with her colleagues. She's not so high-minded and merely wants to wish people a happy birthday, much to the chagrin of her short-sighted boss, who can't see the point in publishing a greeting card you can only send to someone once a year.

While Anne tries to sort out her career path, a strange metaphysical phenomenon occurs that has her living two lives simultaneously. Poetic insight may be the only way to untangle the mess of her lives, but can she sort it out before she loses everything?

A mix of humor, worldbuilding, and literary allusions, Wider Than the Sky is unlike anything else you've read before.
